Welcome on the website of the Mátra Hiking Centre!
The Mátra Hiking Center, located in the mountain range of the Mátra in Parádsasvár, welcomes those eager to hike and explore beyond their homes.
The Bagoly-kő Pension*** accommodates up to 20 guests and is a pet-friendly lodging with a 40-seat restaurant. All nine rooms have private bathrooms and were completely renovated in the spring of 2024.
The surrounding area is ideal for enthusiasts of active tourism. The center serves as an excellent starting point for visiting Galyatető, Kékes-tető, or the Ilona Waterfall. Additionally, hundreds of kilometers of hiking trails await nature lovers. For those seeking less challenging activities, numerous comfortable walking paths are available in the village and neighboring settlements. The center also offers electric bike rentals and wellness services.

Well-being in the Mátra
- Water saving: take a short shower, use our shower hourglass, turn off the tap when brushing your teeth and choose between a smaller and larger flush when flushing the toilet.
- Power saving: turn off the lights and unplug electrical appliances when you don't need them.
- Refrigerator: only turn on the minibar fridge in the room if you really need it.
- Temperature: in winter, we heat up to 21°C; in summer, ventilate instead of air conditioning, don't worry, if that's no longer an option, we'll turn on the cooling.
- Plastic: Avoid single-use plastics, which is what we do - choose refillable bottles and glass cups instead.
- Towels: we also wash our textiles sensibly: towels and bed linen are not changed automatically every day, but only on demand, reducing water and detergent use. If your towels are dirty, ask for a new one at reception and we will be happy to replace them!
- Separate waste: throw your rubbish in the appropriate separate bin. At our hotel, we collect paper, plastic and metal waste together, and if you have recyclable bottles, you can throw them in the appropriate bin in the corridor. Glass waste can be deposited on the waste island in front of the former glass factory, ironically, or simply left in your room or handed in at reception. Do not throw batteries, light bulbs or other hazardous waste in the rubbish bin! Take them home and deposit them in the appropriate collection point!
